Taking care of an elderly family member in your home can be an exhausting and all-consuming task. The focus of this program is to provide help for those caring for seniors - as opposed to focusing on the seniors themselves. It is not uncommon for caregivers themselves to suffer from fatigue and depression. This program provides mini-grants to family care givers to help them pay for assistance in caring for their disabled relative. It also can provide some help with assistive devices to make caring for the individual somewhat easier.
The main focus, however, is to give the family caregivers some relief from the responsibilities of being the senior’s primary caregiver, allow them some time to rest, and enable them to have more normal lives. There are no income restrictions on applicants for these grants. The main criterion is that the relative be the primary caregiver of the senior. The federal funds for this program are somewhat limited. To find out if you may qualify for this assistance, please contact one of our case managers at your local office.
