Home Delivered Meals

Also known as the Meals on Wheels program, this is an important part of the overall services provided by your local Senior Adult Centers. Home delivered meals may be provided to qualified seniors who live within the delivery area of their nearest senior center. Meals may be either hot or frozen, depending upon time and distance involved. All meals meet the minimal standard of 1/3 of ADA daily requirement. While meals are provided to all seniors without charge, whenever possible donations are requested to help defray the costs of this program.

Another service of our senior centers is congregate or group meals. Congregate meals are hot, nutritious meals served within the senior center. These meals also provide an opportunity for socialization and fellowship with other seniors. Whenever possible we encourage persons ages 60 and older to have a meal with the lunch bunch at a local senior center. However, if you are home-bound and unable to cook, a volunteer or staff member may deliver a nutritious hot (or frozen) meal to your home. This is available in most areas of all ten counties, but some areas have waiting lists. Funding for this program is also limited, so not all needs in this area can be met. Call one of our case managers in the office nearest you to arrange an assessment and check on availability in your area.
