How You Can Help
The need for aging services for seniors already far exceeds the resources and manpower available to meet the need. With the aging of the "Baby Boomers", the need for these services will increase dramatically. Funding for senior services at the federal, state, and local level lags far behind the growing need.
The Area Agency on Aging constantly seeks funding sources for programs and services to seniors. Private donations, corporate sponsorships, gifts, and other forms of help go directly to providing services for seniors. Your support, through your tax-deductible donation, can help provide in-home care, emergency assistance, meals, home modification, companionship, and other services to seniors who otherwise could not afford this help. You may prefer not to give financial help but still want to do something to benefit seniors. If that is the case, you may be interested in one or more of the volunteer programs available. Two formal volunteer programs are operated by the agency, the Volunteer Ombudsman Program and the Senior Companion Program. In addition to these programs, the fifteen senior centers located throughout the region also utilize volunteers to help with many aspects of senior center services.
Whatever option you choose, the Area Agency on Aging, our staff, and the seniors we serve, sincerely appreciate your help and support.
